Haida Gwaii Watchmen Flag

This is a picture of the Haida Gwaii Watchmen Flag. This flag represents an organization established to monitor and supervise the protection of five historical sites located on islands in Gwaii Haanas. The Haida traditional symbolism of using the three watchmen figures looking in opposite directions guarding the house is also carved into cedar totem poles and tourist souvenir items made of argillite. This flag was displayed above the Watchmen’s summer cabin at Skedans.
