Shield Argent a wreath of hops Vert with two umbels and surmounted by a marten salient Sable, chief Gules charged with a fleur-de-lis Argent surrounded by wreath of thorns of the same.
Meaning:
The marten is the heraldic animal of the Muggenthal kin. The family bought the village in 1408 from the Solnhofen Abbey. The wreath is symbolising the economic importance of the cultivation of hops. Fleur-de-lis and wreath of thorns are alluding to Anna Schäffer, born in 1882 in the village, died in 1925 after heavy sufferings, finally beatified in 1999 by Pope John Paul II. Her grave is in the local parish church since 1975.
