Shield Azure parted by a fess Argent, above a lion issuant Or armed Gules, beneath a fish najant Argent.
Meaning:
The village became a possession of the Palatine Electors in 1329. It gained the rights of a market town in 1598, entitled later in 1619. In 1598 a secret seal and a lesser seal were made, later in the 17th century a greater seal in a Baroque framework. The lion without crown on a blue field, instead of black, displays a differentiation of the Palatine arms. The fish (local language: Eßling) is alluding to the name of the town. The fess originally had been planned to be black. The encoding according to Petra Sancta on seals caused that the background of the upper field was painted as black. An architectural sculpture can be seen at the town hall.

The banner probably has never been approved officially. The arms were approved on 1598 by Elector Friedrich IV of the Palatinate (Pfalz).
