Shield Or, issuant from a base wavy Azure an eagle Sable, crowned and tongued Gules.
Meaning:
Floß was mentioned as a market town in the 14th century, when the first seal was made. This one and other seals from 1537 and the beginning of the 17th century already displayed the crowned eagle issuant from waves. The waves are referring to the name of the town and the namesake river. The eagle and the tinctures of the upper half are referring to the fact that the town belonged to an imperial estate. In the 18th century crown and waves had been omitted arbitrarily, which determined the following official seals and arms. Some seals displayed a crowned eagle without waves. The original pattern was restored in the 2nd half of the 20th century. The flag colours are a repetiton of the tinctures of the arms.
