Max Mörck was born in Flensburg in 1883 and was son of a local shipowner. In 1908 he entered Bugsier- and Bergungs AG Hamburg (towage and salvage) and was director of this company until 1927. In 1926 he established his own company as ship owner and ship broker. Beside companies in other business lines he was also chairman of Deutsche Tankreederei AG Hamburg and Continent Reederei AG Hamburg and was main shareholder of Nobiskrug dockyard in Rendsburg. In 1928 he became member of Hamburg's chamber of commerce and became president in 1945, was however dismissed a few months later on instance of the British Military Government. Since 1952 he was member of the board of Hamburg Übersee Club (overseas club, a club to promote the reputation of Hamburg in the world) and its president in 1956 and 1957. He died in 1959.
