The municipality of Manzanal de Arriba (412 inhabitants in 2010; 13,016 ha) is located in the west of the Zamora Province, on the border with Portugal, 90 km from Zamora. The municipality is made of the villages of Codesal, Folgoso de la Carballeda, Linarejos, Manzanal de Arriba (capital), Pedroso de la Carballeda, Sagallos, Sandín and Santa Cruz de los Cuérragos.

The flag and arms of Manzanal de Arriba are prescribed by a Decree
adopted on 7 October 1999 by the Municipal Council, signed on 13 October 1999 by the
Mayor, and published on 3 November 1999 in the
official gazette of Castilla y León, No. 212, p. 10,521 (text).
The symbols are described as follows:
Flag: Quadrangular flag, horizontally divided into four equal stripes, white, red, yellow and green.
Coat of arms: Per pale, 1. Gules three apples [manzanas] or per pale, 2. Argent an oak eradicated vert [Crown not mentioned].
