Description

Local Council Har Adar (from the previous name Radar Hill), is situated NW of Jerusalem. Est. 1986, Local Council from 1995. Pop. 1500. The unofficial flag is the emblem on white.

The emblem of the Local Council Har Adar has not been formally adopted. Israeli municipalities in areas occupied since 1967 cannot register their emblems*. Many Israeli laws are in force in those municipalities when adopted there by the military commander, but the Symbols/Emblems Protection Act of 1974 is not one of them.

The Radar Hill (named after a Radar of the RAF that was there during WWII) was a battlefield during the Independence war. In this settlement there is a memorial to "Har'el Regiment", which is the main element in the emblem. Photo of the monument with the municipal flag at www.har-adar.muni.il [retrieved].
