The largest of the indigenous nationalities of Nepal, the Magars, number @
1,663,000 (7.2%), live in the hill region of western Nepal, and are of Hindu
religion (majority) and Buddhism. They speak languages of the Tibeto-Burman
branch of Sino-Tibetan family. They are known as "the bravest of the brave" and
were heavily recruited to the British and Indian Gurkha regiments. The Magar
Autonomous region was declared in 2004 and its leadership is allied with the
Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist. The flag of the Magar Autonomous Region is red
and displaying white bow and arrow with the white star in the canton.

There is another flag of the Magars, a "national" one, with the Magar emblem
shown on the either white or blue field and framed in the either blue or red
narrow border.
