Malacky is 38 km. north of Bratislava. It has a 17th century church, built on the foundations of a medieval flood refuge. Traditional horse races are run in the town.

Malacky Coat of Arms

Malacky Coat of Arms From the Malacky website.

In blue coat-of-arms under silver manor-house and green tree running wild boar.
Model of Malacky's Coat of Arms is a seal from 1577.
Architecture represent the manor-house of aristocratic family Balassa. Wild boar (pig) in front the tree was apparently authentic
Malacky's sealing symbol and reputedly talking symbol because according to different interpretations this symbol is related to the name of the city (malacka in hungarian means little pig). This explanation is not correct, because in opinion of philologians the name of the city is more related to medieval territory name Molichká from 13th century or to local name of creek Malisca (contemporary name Malina) therefore origin of the Coat of Arms is uncertain.

It is very interesting me to see the Coat of Arms of the town, because the settlement's name in Hungarian: Malacka means Piggy
