Akobo State was a short-lived state, existing from 14 January 2017 until its
disestablishment on 22 February 2020. Its flags were known to have been adopted
in the first half of the same year (as a photo shows usage in March). The
primary flag used by the governor appeared to be a black field with the state
emblem in the center outlined in white. It is certainly possible the black field
comes from a common Lou-Nuer flag used in the area.

The state emblem was certainly adopted in the first half of 2017. No context is known about its adoption, but it does appear to be derived from the Akobo County logo which depicted an eagle as well. The emblem had a green outer ring reading Republic of South Sudan above in white; below in the same Akobo State. A white star on each side divided the legend. In the inner circle, an African fish eagle is seen soaring above water, denoting its status as the national bird.
