image by Daniel Rentería, 2 November 2025The administrative area was established in 2020 after the states reverted back to 10; The Ruweng administrative flag was likely adopted the same year as a result. Its flag is a green field depicting the state emblem in the center, but with only the main details and not including any of the rings.

The administrative area emblem takes its design from its time as a state, probably adopted around 2016. Its outer ring is green and depicts 9 golden stars on each side, representing the 18 chiefdoms of the area. Above are two spears as tools. At the bottom is the name Ruweneg Administrative Area in gold. The inner ring of green is outlined in another green, having a ring of green balls going all around. In the center, symbols of the economy are found: a cow as a symbol of prosperity/cattle-raising, barrels, wheat for agriculture, and an oil derrick with a flame above for the primary source of wealth in the region: petroleum.
