Description of the flag

The flag is a blue field with with a circle in the center. The circle is divided into three parts. The first has an American flag, which references the city's nickname as "The Flag City". The second shows an oil derrick, as Findlay was once a center of the Ohio oil and gas industry. The third shows a colonial style fort, this represents a fort constructed during the War of 1812 by colonel James Findlay, which he named after himself. above the circle is a red banner with the city's name. Under the circle is a longer banner which has the community's establishment and incorporation years, as well at the names representing the symbols inside the circle.
