". . . by 1929, as a
consequence of advancing years, the formerly vigorous ever-racing [Dunedin]
Yacht Club contingent had become a rocking chair club. This prompted a bunch of
native Dunedinite boaters to get together and organize the Dunedin Boat Club,
with Dr. H. E. Winchester first Commodore. . . . The Dunedin marina was
constructed in the '30s and in 1938 the City leased to the Dunedin Boat Club the
land on which the clubhouse still stands."
