The parish of San Pedro de Suma (5,799 inhabitants) is located in El Carmen 
canton (Manabí province), 15 km south-west of El Carmen.
San Pedro de Suma was settled in 1950 by Pedro Anguo, from Esmeraldas, followed 
by Sócrates Farias, from Cucuy (1953), José López, from Canuto (1955), Argentino 
Vélez, from Eloy Alfaro (1956), and Antonio Loor, from Tosagua (1960). The 
parish of San Pedro de Suma was established on 12 November 1999 (Official 
Register No. 317).

The flag of San Pedro de Suma is horizontally divided green-yellow.  
Along the hoist is placed a blue triangle charged with a white star.

Green represents hope and bananas, the main source of income in the parish.
Yellow represents the resources of the soil.
The blue triangle represents the 
sky. The star symbolizes St. Peter.
