The parish of Muluncay (970 inhabitants, 1,800 ha) is located west of 
the 
town of Zaruma. The parish is composed of three sites: Muluncay 
Chico, 
Puente de Buza, and Los Rosales de Machay.
The parish was established on 7 
September 1984, originating in the 
Muluncay San Francisco estate, documented 
since the 19th century.

The flag of Muluncay is horizontally divided white-yellow-green.
The 
yellow stripe represents gold extraction and ripe corn ears.
The white stripe 
represents peace and highness, love, conquest and new hope.
The green stripe 
represents the people's constant commitment to reach promised days and the 
greenness of the cultivated fields.
