The first character of Kin (金 - also can be pronounced Kin by
itself) means gold.

The town emblem was adopted on Nov 7th 1977.
The town emblem is a stylized katakana キン Kin in a form of a circle and wings. It represents the town people’s reconciliation, 
peace and solidarity, the town’s exponential development and the bright future.
