On October 6, 2023, South Korea's Chungcheongbuk Province announced the use
of a new version of its emblem and flag. The design consists of the Korean
initials "ㅊㅂ" for Chungcheongbuk-do, Chungbuk "충북", using purple and blue. The
purple "ㅊ" represents the desire of the Chungbuk-do people for the sky, and the
blue "ㅂ" represents the springs of Lake Chungbuk-do.
The combination of
the two elements symbolizes the healthy and happy life of the Chungbuk-do people
in this unique natural environment. The overall design is a radial pattern with
upper and lower arrows, representing the transformation of Chungcheongbuk-do
from the "center of Korea" to the "center of the world" and a vision of the
continued development and progress of the Chungbuk region in all aspects. The 11
strokes that make up the provincial emblem represent the balanced development
and mutual cooperation of the 11 cities and counties of North Chungcheong
Province.
The provincial flag has a white background with the symbol of
the province and the Korean name of Chungcheongbuk Province, "충청북도" painted in
the center.

Provincial Symbol
The upper part, by and large, represents the enterprising spirit of the inhabitants of the province. The red color stands for the strong enthusiasm of the inhabitants of the province. The green color stands for our beautiful scenery. The yellow color stands for the peace.
The dark blue curved line of the lower part appears the letter 'Chon' of Chonbuk (North Cholla Province) to be lain, shapes the waving West Sea, and stands for our province Chollabuk-do which is rising leading parts in the Yellow Sea Age.
