Presentation of Odžak

The municipality of Odžak (21,289 inhabitants in 2013; 9,162 in the town of Odžak) is located on the border with Croatia. The municipality is composed of the town of Odžak and another 13 settlements: Ada (22 inh.), Bosanski Őamac (uninhabited), Brusnica Mala (127 inh.), Donja Dubica (1,561 inh.), Donji Svilaj (1,292 inh.), Gornja Dubica (1,195 inh.), Gornji Svilaj (832 inh.), Novi Grad (412 inh.), Novo Selo (2,021 inh.), Posavska Mahala (991 inh.), Potočani (1,348 inh.), Prud (990 inh.) and Vrbovac (1,136 inh.).

Odžak forms an exclave of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, being surrounded by four municipalities belonging to Republika Srpska. The municipality includes most of the municipality of Odžak before 1992 (except for Gnionica, Jo&Ax0161;avica and Srnava, and parts of Ada, Novo Selo, Odžak, Potočani and Vrbovac) and the extreme northwestern part of the municipality of Bosanski Šamac before 1992 (the largest part of Prud and a smaller part of Bosanski Šamac).

Flag of Odžak

The symbols of Odžak were selected in a public contest prescribed by Decision No. 01-01-136 issued on 8 November 2019. The commission in charge of the contest was appointed by Decision No. 01-02-1 issued on 2 January 2020.
On 6 March 2020, the commission evaluated the three submitted proposals, selected one design and required the author to make minor modifications.
On 2 September 2020, the commission acknowledged the author's modifications and validated the amended design.
The new symbols were adopted on 18 September 2020 by the Municipal Council.
