About the Flag

The municipality of Campo do Tenente (7,894 inhabitants in 2018; 30,449 ha) is located 100 km south-west of Curitiba.

Campo de Tenente was mentioned in 1800 on the map of the Captaincy of São Paulo. In 1816, João de Silva Machado attempted to settle the region, establishing close to Rio Negro 50 Azorean families that soon moved away. The first German immigrants settled the area in 1829. The settlement of Campo do Tenente was established in 1847.
The railway station was inaugurated on 1894, while Major Henrique Stahlke, owner of an electric power plant, offered in 1907 electricity for free to the town.
The municipality of Campo do Tenente was established by State Law No. 4,338, promulgated on 25 January 1961, separating from Rio Negro, and inaugurated on 29 October 1961.
