The coat of arms of Novo Cabrais is prescribed by Municipal Law No. 47
promulgated on 29 July 1997.
Article 1.
A German classic shield
surmounted by a mural crown argent with six towers, four visible. Dexter a field
vert (green) symbolizing the plains, charged with river Botucaraí azure (blue),
which crosses the municipality, and a golden plane tree, representing the
landscaped garden. Sinister a field argent (silver) as a symbol of food
industry. In chief a field gules (red) charged with a dove representing
solidarity and religious feelings.
The shield supported dexter and sinister
by tobacco and rice plants proper. Beneath the shield a scroll argent (silver)
inscribed sable (black) the toponym "NOVO CABRAIS" surrounded by date "28/12"
and year "1995".
The coat of arms has the following symbolic
interpretation.
a) The classical Germanic shield, used to represent the arms
of Novo Cabrais, originating from Germany, and introduced all over Europe during
the struggle against the Moors, was subsequently adopted in other countries to
represent arms of domains, and, eventually, by Brazilian heraldry, as an
evocation of one of the colonizing races and main builders of the nation.
b)
The mural crown surmounting the shield is the universal symbol of coat of arms
of domains; argent (silver) with six towers, four visible in perspective, it
classifies the town as of third rank or municipal seat.
c) Argent (silver) is
a symbol of peace, friendship, work, prosperity, purity and religious feeling.
d) The field vert (green) represents the plains, crossed by a fess azure (blue),
representing the municipality main river, Botucaraí. The field is charged with a
tree, a golden plane tree, symbolizing the important landscaped garden existing
in the municipality.
e) Vert (green) is a symbol of honor, civility,
courtesy, glee, abundance; green also represents hope as the mountains and
greening fields promising profuse harvests.
f) Sinister on a field argent
(silver) the symbol of food industry, recalling the potential of increase of the
region's economic activity by its important production sector.
g) In chief a
white dove conveying feelings of peace, harmony, solidarity and religion.
h)
The outer ornaments proper recall the main products supplied by the generous and
fertile soil, tobacco and rice.
i) On a scroll argent (silver), in letters
sable (black), the identifying toponym "NOVO CABRAIS" surrounded by date
"28/12", for the creation of the municipality, and "1995", for its political
emancipation.

Witeck Park, one of Latin America's main
private arboretums, was established in 1966 by Dr. Acido Witeck, known as the
"crazy doctor" after he had acquired in 1962 a plot of barren land. Covering
today 70 ha, Witeck Park presents more than 2,000 plant species from all over
the world, scattered in thematic areas (tropical, evergreen, European, palm
trees, and broad-leaved) and arranged around six lakes.
