The municipality of Rio dos Índios (3,616 inhabitants in 2010; 23,697 ha) is
located on the border with Santa Catarina state, here river Uruguai, 430 km
north-west of Porto Alegre.

The flag of Rio dos Índios is horizontally divided blue-red-green, charged in
the center with a white hexagone featuring the municipal coat of arms.
