Municipality

The municipality of Vista Alegre de Prata (1,569 inhabitants in 2010; 11,933 ha) is located 200 km north of Porto Alegre.

Vista Alegre de Prato was established as Linha 6ª General Osório, part of the municipality of Alfredo Chaves (now, Veranópolis). The first Italian immigrants settled in 1892, coming from the Treviso Province. They were subsequently joined by Polish immigrants.
