[Erlinsbach was formed on 1 January 2006 by the merger of Untererlinsbach and Obererlinsbach (see below).
There are two Erlinsbachs, separated by the Erzbach (brook), which is also the border between Solothurn and Aargau canton. And it's also a denominational border: Erlinsbach (SO) is Catholic, Erlinsbach (AG) is Protestant]
