On red a white cushion with yellow tassels placed diagonally.

The name Küssnacht comes from a Latin name like Cossinius/Cossonius/Cusinnius etc. and the Celtic ending -akos/-acus which describes a piece of land, so fundus cossiniacus (estate of Cossinius) or the like. Later on this name, which evolved to Chussinach, was falsely connected to the Alemannic Chussi (cushion), when the lords of Chussinach chose a cushion for their emblem, which is documented for the year 1284 (See also Küsnacht ZH).
