Presentation of UBP

UBP was founded on 11 October 1975 by Rauf Denktaş (1924-2012), the historical leader of the Turkish Cypriots and first President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (1983-2006).
National Unity here refers to the aspired union of Northern Cyprus with Turkey.
UBP was the governing party for most of the history of Northern Cyprus, except for the 1993-1998, 2003-2009 and 2013-2015 legislatures. The rest of the time, UDB mostly governed alone, except in 1998-2003, when it formed a coalition with DP, and since 2015, when it first formed a coalition with CTP, then with DP. UBP was also the presidential party for most of the history of Northern Cyprus, with the first and third Presidents, Rauf Denktaş (1983-2005) and Derviş Eroğlu (2010-2015), respectively.

Flag of UBP

UBP mostly uses two flags:
- an orange flag with the party's emblem bordered in white, in the center (photo, photo, photo, photo, photo).
- a white flag with the party emblem in the center (photo, Courrier International, April 2003; photo, photo, photo, photo). The flag was also used in a square format (photo, 12 April 2009).
On the emblem (photo), it looks like a long rather than short ray should be on top. On another photo, the starburst is askew and no one ray points exactly up.
