A fourth set of proposals added small white stripes between the black, red and golden stripes, like on the modern Gambian flag. I do not know who the author/artist of these proposals was.

This added a golden shield, fimbriated white, in the center with a black eagle holding a white scroll with the inscription Einigkeit Recht Freiheit (Unity Law Freedom). This motto
stems from the third stanza of the German national anthem, which is also now the national anthem - Einigkeit und Recht und Freiheit für das deutsche Vaterland. Source: Dreyhaupt 2000 [drh00], fig. 176.
