Coat of Arms

Shield Or two pales Azure
Meaning:
In 1944 a city seal from the first half of the 15th century had been found. The Saxonian Main Archive in Dresden proved that this seal already had been part of a deed of obeisance, the city gave to Elector Friedrich II of Saxony on 28 December 1445. The amrs display the so called "Landsbergian pales". They were used by the Wettin kin since the 13th century and became later on the arms of the Margraviate of Landsberg, to which Zörbig historically belonged. The pales as the only charge also appear in the arms of Landsberg city. They can also be found as a part in the coats of arms of the Saxonian cities of Leipzig,Chemnitz and Dresden, in the latter arms modified to black pales.
