Coat of Arms

Description of coat of arms:
In a silver(=white) shield is a red castle having an embowed open gate and an embattled tower at either side. In the gate is a black upright key.
Meaning:
According to source the object topping the gable of the gate is a lily. The arms are probably based upon an image of a 14th century seal. The castle maybe the castle of Schmallenberg, erected by the archbishops of Köln. It was destroyed in 1243. The key is an attribute of St.Peter, the patron saint of the archbishopric.
