Marklkofen Coat of Arms

Renaissance shield Sable a fess Argent, charged with the word "lieb" in Gothic minuscles Gules.
The municipality adopted in 1954 the family arms of the Lords of Zachreisen. The family owned the central castle since at least 1410 and later also the lower castle. The family arms are conveyed since around 1400 on seals, tombstones in the local parish church and rolls of arms. The word was added in 1423 by Wilhelm Zachreisen as a distinguishing mark. Klemens Stadler assumed that the word, which means "dear", had been a motto. Others say that it had been part of the family name.
