SG Emlichheim Coat of Arms

Shield Gules, parted by a bend wavy Argent, above left four balls Or, three in bend and the fourth in the sinister chief corner, beneath a grain sheaf Or.
Meaning:
The bend wavy is representing the three waterways, being important for the municipality, the rivers Vechte and Grenzaa and the Coevorden-Piccardie-Channel. The balls are taken from the arms of the Counts of Bentheim, the former rulers. Their number has a double meaning. First the balls are representing the "Board of the Common Parish", consisting of Emlichheim, Laarwald, Ringe and Hoogstede. Since 1448 it granted the right to run windmills in the region. It covers more or less the area, nowadays consisting of the four municipalities of Emlichheim Comprehensive Municipality. The sheaf is symbolising the rural character. Red and yellow are the colours of the Counts of Bentheim. The arms were designed by Ulf-Dietrich Korn.
