Deggingen Coat of Arms

Shield Gules, above an elephant's head Argent, beneath a 6-point star Or.
Meaning:
The current pattern already appeared on the oldest local court seal with an inscription "1551" above the shield. The arms are a modification of the family arms of the Counts of Helfenstein, which displayed an elephant statant on a quadruplemount, both Argent in a shield Gules. The counts had been local rulers until 1627, when they became extinct. Since 1904 the elephant was displayed in seals either passant or statant and connected with the arms of the Lords of Deggingen. The pattern of their arms is however not mentioned. The star is a distinguishing mark.

The banner was approved and the old arms were confirmed on 30 June 1959, published in GABl 330/1959.
