Coat of Arms

Shield Or, a pale Gules charged with a sword Or in pale.
Meaning:
When Marienburg Castle, an estate of King Georg V of Hannover was finished in 1857, before during excavations armour and trinkets from the Bronze Age were found. Among those had been relics of a sword. It became part of the arms in order to symbolise the defense readiness of the local people. The flag colours are those of the Bishopric of Hildesheim.
