Widdern Coat of Arms

Shield Sable a ram statant Or.
Meaning:
Widdern belonged to the Lordship of Dürn and gained city rights around 1300. Being a joint heirship (details can be seen here) from the 14th until the 19th century, the existence of proper seals couldn't be proven before 1511. Already the first seal displayed the canting ram (German: Widder). Until the early 20th century the ram had been always passant. Since the 17th century the ram stood on top of a triplemount. The current pattern shows a ram statant. The colours had been those of Württemberg.

The arms with colours were fixed in 1933 and approved in 1937.
