Riedbach Coat of Arms

Shield Argent a beech leaf Azure, charged with a bend Argent charged with three annulets Azure, chief wavy Gules charged with two mattocks Argent in saltire.
Meaning:
The mattocks in chief are referring to forest clearance in the Medieval. The wavy line of partition is a representation of the name giving creek. The leaf is a representation of the local Kreuzthal Forest. In the forest had been the Cistercian Nunnery Zum Heiligen Kreuz (Holy Cross), which was founded in 1237 near Kreuzthal Village. Julius Echter of Mespelbrunn, Bishop of Würzburg (1573 – 1617) donated the forest to the University of Würzburg, which he had founded. The bend with annulets displays his proper arms.
