Coat of Arms

Description of coat of arms:
The base is blue and embattled thrice. The shield is divided per pale. The dexter side shows a golden(=yellow) cross, a so called "Vortragekreuz", which was probably used in front of processions. The sinister side shows a red fleur de lis in a golden(=yellow) field.
Meaning:
According to source the cross is symbolizing former city of Borgentreich while the lily is symbolizing former city of Borgholz. The colours red and gold are those of the archbishopric of Paderborn. The base is symbolizing the city rights. Its colour has no special meaning.
