Mainburg Coat of Arms

Shield Gules on top of a triplemount Vert a birch of the same with its trunk surrounded by a fence Or.
Meaning:
The oldest seal prints from 1374 already displayed the canting arms of a birch (in German also called Maie) on a triplemount, the old name had been Mainberg (= mountain) instead of Mainburg (=castle). Philipp Apian (1562) depicted the tree clearly as warty birch (Latin: Betula pendula). The current pattern with fence is known from the small seal from the 18th century and was kept in literature during the 19th century. where the tree was also depicted with golden apples and sometimes as a linden. Otto Hupp omitted the fence.
