Obersüßbach Coat of Arms

Shield parted per bend; above left Argent a bear passant Sable, armed and tongued Gules, beneath Azure a hops umbel Argent with leaf of the same.
Meaning:
Bear and line of partition are referring to the Kärgl family from Furth and Süßbach. The family held privileges in Obersüßbach and Niedersüßbach since 1327 and ruled the local districts (Bavarian: Hofmarken) until 1615. The tinctures silver and red are taken from the family arms of the Counts of Lerchenfeld, who ruled the districts from 1678 until 1793. Umbel and leaf are alluding to the cultivation of hops in the region.
