Binzen Coat of Arms

Shield Azure a grain sheaf Or, chief Gules charged with a radiant rising sun Or.
Meaning:
The Margraves of Baden-Durlach gained special rights from the Margraves of Hachberg-Sausenberg in the village and gained complete sovereignty in 1769 by an exchange from the Bishops of Basel. A notice of the reeve Ernst-Friedrich of Leutrum from the 18th century mentioned a sun as local symbol "as he presents himself in the margrave's shield". In the 19th century local seals displayed in a shield parted per pale the Badenian bend and bulrushes (German: Binsen) as canting elements. The tinctures were fixed in 1905. As those arms were more and more disliked in the past, they were abolished. The sheaf is alluding to the rural character of the municipality.
