Neukieritzsch Coat of Arms

Shield parted per pale, at dexter Argent a tree Sable with leaves Vert at dexter and a stomp Sable at sinister, at sinister Vert three barrulets wavy Argent, base Or charged with a winged wheel Sable.
Meaning:
Tree and stomp are symbolising forest clearance as origin of the village. The three barrulets wavy are a representation of the Pleiße River, which had to be redirected thrice due to the requirements of mining. The winged wheel is a railway symbol. Near Kieritsch had been the first breakpoint of the railway between Leipzig and Altenburg, where the tank engines were supplied with water. This brekpoint became the origin of Neukieritzsch.

Kahnsdorf Coat of Arms

Shield Vert parted by a fess wavy Argent; above parted by a pale Or, at dexter a crozier issuant Argent, at sinister a pen Argent on a book of the same; beneath a church Argent.
Meaning:
The fess wavy is symbolising the numerous artificial lakes of the municipality. The church is a representation of the local parish church. The crozier is representing bishop Wigbert of Merseburg, who caused the construction of the church of Zöpen. Book and pen are reminding on a meeting of Christian Gottfried Köner, father of the poet Theodor Körner, Friedrich Schiller, one of Germany´s most famous poets, and Johann Christian Ernesti, professor for theology as host and owner of a local estate.
