Coat of Arms

Shield Azure, in chief a 6-spokes wheel Argent, supported by a sinister facing bear rampant Or armed Gules at dexter and a lion rampant barry of ten of Argent and Gules and armed Or at sinister.
Meaning:
The bear in the arms is derived from the 18th century seal of the town. The town at the time was named Allendorf im Bärenschießen, and the seal displayed the bear as a canting element. The lion is representing the Landgraves of Hesse and was added in 1955 together with the wheel of Mainz, in order to remind on the former rulers. Stadtallendorf gained city rights in 1960.
The coat of arms was approved in 1955 by Minister of Interior of Hesse..
