Bergheim Coat of Arms

Over a triplemount issuant Argent charged with a fess wavy Azure in base shield parted by a jousting lance Argent; at dexter Gules a crozier Or in pale flanked by two plough shares addorsed of the same; at sinister Sable a lion rampant Or, crowned, armed and tongued Gules.
The mount is a canting element and referring to the location on the edge of the Franconian Jura. The fess wavy is a representation of the the Donau River (Danube). The lance is an attribute of St. Maurice, the local patron saint. The municipality historically partially belonged to the Bishopric of Eichstätt (villages of Attenfeld and Unterstall), symbolised by the crozier, and partially to the Principality of Pfalz-Neuburg (Bergheim proper), symbolised by the Palatine lion. The plough shares are symbolising the rural character of the municipality.
