Meaning:
The municipality was established in 1975 by a merger of the municipalities of Klingsmoos, Ludwigsmoos and Untermaxfeld. The Bavarian royal crown is canting for the name, meaning the king's marsh, and is symbolising the close relationships between the former municipalities and the Wittelsbach kin. Elector Max Joseph, later King of Bayern, was the name giver of the Maxfeld colony, which was established in 1801 by settlers from the Palatinate. Ludwigsmoos and Klingsmoos developed since 1822. Also their former names Ludwigsfeld und Theresienfeld are a proof of these relationship. Name givers had been the prince royal and his consort. Theresienfeld was renamed in 1831 in order to honour Johann Peter of Kling, who earned merits during the cultivation of the Donau Marshes. Bend and bendlet are symbolising the drain channels and streets, which opened the area for settlements alongside the streets and trenches and created the typical ribbon-built villages in the local marshes. The black colour is referring to the dark soil.
