Coat of Arms

Shield Argent, over a blue initial "P" an impending coronet Or, chief barry-bendy of Argent and Azure.
Meaning:
The current pattern is known by seals since the late 14th century. The lozenges in barry-bendy version are referring to the Wittelsbach kin as local rulers. The coronet is either a differentiation of the Palatine lion or an attribute stressing the status of a city. In 1819 different arms were granted, displaying on a shield parted per fess, above a black lion on a golden field with or without coronet as a differentiation of the Palatine lion and beneath the Bavarian lozenges. Around 1890 the initial was added between the forepaws of the lion. The pattern of the oldest seal was in use again since 1900.
