Coat of Arms

Description of coat of arms:
Shield Azure, a castle Argent towered thrice, with embattled central tower and towers roofed Gules in flanks, connected by an embowed, embattled wall, in front a trefoil-shaped arch Gules, therein a lion statant guardant Or, crowned of the same and tongued Gules
Meaning:
The oldest seal with prints from 1362 already displays a castle. In its gate appeared a helmet with two keys, the crest of the Lords of Rostorp, who ruled the castle and town in condominion since 1252. In 1379 the city was acquired by the Dukes of Göttingen, a branch line of the Welfen kin. Ever since the seals and arms show the lion of the Welfen in the gate of the castle in various positions.
Moringen was a market town and gained city rights at the end of the 13th century. The colour in arch was changed from blue to red in the late 20th century.

Blankenhagen Coat of Arms

Description of coat of arms:
Shield parted per chevron, above Azure, a sun radiant issuant Or, beneath Argent a heraldic rose Gules, seeded Or and barbed Vert.
Meaning:
The partition is understood to display a mountain. The arms are symbolising the high altitude of the village, represented by mountain and sun. The silver colour of the mountain is alluding to "Blank", which means "white". The rose is symbolising the local flora. The arms were approved on 26 October 1962.
