Pforzen Coat of Arms

Shield parted per fess, above Argent a double knight Gules with an arrow at its base, beneath Azure a stag passant Or.
Meaning:
In general the current arms are based on the municipal arms from 1950. The knight here is a doubled chess piece with an additional arrow. The doubled knight is taken from the arms of the Lords of Pforzen, mentioned between 1170 and 1335. Their belongings were acquired by Irsee Monastery in the 14th century. The stag is taken from the arms of the Lords of Leinau, local rulers of the namesake village from 1120 until the middle of the 14th century. Their family arms displayed a silver stag in a blue field. Thus those tinctures are representing the Lords of Leinau and Bayern as well. The arrow is the attribute of St. Sebastian, local patron saint of the former Ingenried municipalty.
