Rieden Coat of Arms

Shield parted per fess wavy of Gules and Argent a fleur-de-lis in counterchanged tinctures with a vine leaf as its central petal, in base a mattock and an axe in saltire, both Gules.
The tools are canting, alluding to the fact that the village developed by forest clearance. The tinctures are those of the Bishopric of Augsburg, local ruler since the 14th century. The fleur-de-lis is taken from the arms of St.Mang Monastery and is alluding to the close relationship with the neighbouring city of Füssen. The vine leaf is an attribute of St. Urban, the local patron saint. The line of partition is a representation of the name giving Forgggensee, an artificial lake finished in 1954.
