Quierschied Coat of Arms

Shield Or with base wavy Azure, a saltire Sable charged with a pair of thunderbolts Argent in saltire and superimposing a wheel Sable.
Meaning:
The black saltire is taken from the old arms of the Lords of Saarbrücken, who owned some possessions in the village in Medieval. The wheel is alluding to mining. It was used for hauling people and coal from the pits, which were of great importance for the municipality. The bolts are symbolising the local Weiher III Power Station. The base wavy is symbolising the Fischbach, a local creek.
