Mindelheim Coat of Arms

Shield Argent in base bars wavy Azure, over all an impending bell Sable with bobbin and hoops Or.
Meaning:
The pattern is known from seals of the local market rules from 1337, probably made already in 1330.The wavy bars are a representation of the name giving Mindel River. The bell probably is a symbol of market or council and thus a representation of the civic rights. Since 1430 on a secret seal the bell was always displayed in a shield. The tinctures are known since 1555 but were depicted variably in literature. Between 1705 and 1715 Mindelheim had been capital of a namesake imperial principality (German: Reichsfürstentum) ruled by General John Churchill Duke of Marlborough. Today the city is seat of Unterallgäu County.

The colours of the banner are traditional. The arms are in use since around 1350 without approval.
