Coat of Arms

Shield Or, a fess Sable masoned Argent, crowned by an embattled tower of the same, in base partially superimposed by an inescutcheon Azure, charged with a lion rampant barry of ten of Argent and Gules and armed Or.
Meaning:
The first city seal from 1553 displayed an uncroned lion, the seal from the 18th century a lion barry and crowned. The former is confirmed bei Dilich and Siebmacher (1605). Siebmacher and Wessel (1621) displayed the lion Or tongued Gules in a shield Azure. The city rights of Romrod were confirmed in 1958. The current arms in 1967 had been just proposed. They are referring to the Lords of Romrod, whose arms displayed a black castle in a golden shield. The lion is referring to the Landgraves of Hessen, rulers in Romrod since 1358.
