Muhr Coat of Arms

Shield Gules, two crossbow shafts Argent addorsed in pale and ordered per fess.
Meaning:
The municipality was established by a merger of Altenmuhr and Neuenmuhr in 1976. The new municipality adopted the former arms of Altenmuhr without any changes. The arms are reminding on the Lords of Muhr, whose ancestral seat had been in Altenmuhr. They died out in 1536. Their family arms displayed two golden crossbow shafts in a red shield. The lords had been in service of the Bishopric of Eichstätt since 1169 and had been Masters of the Kitchen (German: Erbküchenmeister) of the bishops since 1306. The tinctures are those of the bishopric.
